How do get to Rote?
Getting to Villa Oenggaut is easier than almost all other surf and yoga resorts in Indonesia!
Flight from Bali to Kupang taking 1 hour 45 minutes, with airlines Garuda and Wings. Dependant of your flight, you have the option to stay in Kupang where we can arrange our preferred hotel “La Hasienda”. It is clean, affordable and close to the airport. Otherwise we normally prefer to get straight to the island by placing you on another 20 minute flight from Kupang to Rote.
Once you arrive on the Island you will be greeted by one of our staff who will transport you and your luggage straight to the villa. This drive will give you a raw insight of the local villages and beaches on the island until you reach your destination.
A representative from Vidya will arrange all your travel to the retreat.

Travel Arrangements?
Airfare to Bali not included – You will need to purchase your own flight to the Island of Gods. Rest assured once we met at Ngurah International Airport – Denpasar, we will take over and look after you for the duration of your retreat. You’ll love our tribe, just wait and see!
Travel from Bali to Rote Island, YES this is included – Vidya Team will take care of everything.

Do I need a visa?
You do not need a visa to enter Indonesia & West Timor for visits of up to 30 days. If you are planning on staying in Indonesia for more than 30 days, you should apply for a visa before you travel, or obtain a “Visa On Arrival” at the Indonesian airport (a desk just before you reach customs) at a cost of $35 US. This type of visa is valid for 30 days and can be extended once, for another 30 days. Giving you 60 days in total, this can be obtained by applying with local immigration office in Indonesia.

What is the weather like in Rote & Bali?
Rote temperatures vary very little, average year-round temperature stands at around 30°C with a humidity level of about 85%. Day time temperatures at low elevations vary between 20–33°C. The monsoon is in place from approximately October to April, and this can bring significant rain, particularly from December to March. What style of yoga will we be practicing?
Yin Yang Yoga – Two halves that together make wholeness. Yin and yang are the starting point for change.
Wholeness, by definition is that which is unchanging and complete. Traditionally, yin and yang are thought of as complementary sides and not oppositional. Thus, balancing your more physically demanding yoga practice with gentle and restorative postures is a guaranteed way to create balance and harmony.
Yang yoga comprises the dynamic practices of Ashtanga, Hatha and Vinyasa yoga. An active, powerful practice that emphasises the strength, endurance and heat within the human body. Flow with ease by connecting your breath with movement from one pose to another.
Yin yoga is the harmonious blend of ancient Chinese wisdom and classical Hatha yoga postures from India that benefits both the physical and energetic elements of our being. The philosophy of Yin yoga allows us access to a larger perspective of how the world works and ultimately aligns us on a path whereby we can achieve our heightened goals on our spiritual path. Poses are generally held between 3-5 minutes, lengthen and creating space with our connective tissue.

What if I’ve never done yoga?
