Chitta vritti nirodha is Patanjali’s definition of yoga. It means that yoga is the removing of the fluctuations of the mind. The word yoga, from Sanskirt means to join, unity, union. Some say it’s the integration of human personality: Discipline & Concentration. Vidya yoga retreats aims to assist you on your yoga journey. With the belief that everybody needs yoga in their life it is our mission to make this accessible to you. Creating a comfortable relaxed environment for you to connect with your body, breath and mind. Verity will take you on a journey of self discovery as you reset, align and inspire yourself. Whether you are new to Yoga or experienced, Verity will ensure your time on the mat instils purpose to your practice and nourishment to your soul. Yoga will be morning sweat session with a Yang style practice and we will conclude the day with sweet juicy Yin. All classes are around 90 minutes.
The classes have been created to complement your growth on the retreat along the way. Styles include; Yang – In yang, think powerful, active, we emphasise strength, alignment and endurance. Including Vinyasa, Vinyasa Krama, Hatha and Ashtanga. Yin – Letting your body completely surrender in strong but relaxed postures held for around 3-5 minutes. A must for everyone. Myofascial release – Is a manipulative treatment using rollers and a tennis ball size ball that releases tension in the fascia due to trauma, posture of inflammation. Assisting in pain relief and letting go in the common problem areas from surfing to stress, from the shoulders to the hips. We provide yoga matts, blocks, bolsters and straps however a yoga matt can be your own magic carpet so feel free to bring your own too.

Our style is Yin Yang Yoga
Two halves that together make wholeness. Yin and yang are the starting point for change. Wholeness, by definition is that which is unchanging and complete. Traditionally, yin and yang are thought of as complementary sides and not oppositional. Thus, balancing your more physically demanding yoga practice with gentle and restorative postures is a guaranteed way to create balance and harmony.
Yang yoga comprises the dynamic practices of Ashtanga, Hatha and Vinyasa yoga. An active, powerful practice that emphasises the strength, endurance and heat within the human body. Yin yoga is the harmonious blend of ancient Chinese wisdom and classical Hatha yoga postures from India that benefits both the physical and energetic elements of our being. The philosophy of Yin yoga allows us access to a larger perspective of how the world works and ultimately aligns us on a path whereby we can achieve our heightened goals on our spiritual path.

Being an experienced instructors and having hosted surfing tours all over Indonesia we bring Nembrala’s best to you by maximizing your surfing time and scoring as many waves as possible. Rote is known for its awesome fishing, the best of the best come here. So we are extremely thankful to have access to the best boats and equipment. For us fishing therapeutic, a sense of hunter gather which brings out calming energy.
Villa Oenggaut owns and operates an 11 metre Game fishing boat and a 7.5m centre console, Angelina, the Putri Segara. Unique to this area, Blackwatch is fully surveyed to Australian standard. The waterways, bays and nearby islands offer an exceptional fishing adventure. You will appreciate the abundant variety of species including Sailfish, Marlin, Wahoo, Spanish Mackerel, Trevally, Mau Mau and many species of reef fish. The most exciting attraction is the large Dog Tooth Tuna which can reach up to 70kg.
We take a trip together for you to try your hand at fishing, or continue you love, and provide a feast for your fellow retreaters.
Some of the world’s most spectacular white sand beaches and crystal clear aqua blue water are ready for you to explore, we adventure together.
To discover the home to various species of marine life, colourful coral, reef fish, larger pelagics, gorgeous sea shells and lobsters. Rote is an idyllic snorkelling spot! When visiting the island, it’s such s privilege to see so many aspects of the pristine oceanic beauty. There are many sites to explore right out front of the villa or take a short scooter or boat ride to epic destinations. The villa provides a manned 7.5 metre boat which is prefect for connecting you to these amazing snorkelling and swimming reefs close by. The villa is equipped with all required equipment, however, enthusiasts are free to bring your own.

To us food is life. You are what you eat, so make it amazing! Eating begins from the moment you lay eyes on your meal. Presentation to excite. Food to nourish. We are dedicated to providing you with a menu to keep you satisfied all day long. Using whole organic foods which are eaten with purpose and according to your Primal Pattern Diet Type your body is fuelled to reach its full potential. All our meals are made firstly with love and from locally grown and sourced foods. We remain conscious of eating within our climate and region. With focus on maximising your nutrient intake from natural sources we’ve developed a menu filled with powerful plant based meals. We’ve included animal foods such as eggs, fish and poultry. Whole foods contain more vitamins and minerals, more fibre and beneficial fats. The combinations of nutrients in whole plant foods act synergistically to protect us from disease.

Verity is a Health Coach and Life Coach with special focus on healing with happiness and nutrition accompanied with exercise. A nourishing lifestyle – including the food we eat for health and energy, and our self care routine. Our thoughts, our mindset (our guiding principal) ensures that this is will be the foundation to build a life we love on.
You will practice intention, awareness, compassion and acceptance on the yoga mat and in our yogic way of living. Here together we integrate these into our lives at Vidya Yoga Retreat we will help you feel better in your physical body, stronger in your emotional body and inspired by your own potential. We do all things with integrity, honestly and authenticity and always from love.

As more people recognise the need for inspiration and guidance, coaching has gained acceptance as a method for helping individuals move toward the change they see for themselves. Together we will close the gap between where you are now and where you want to be, at a much faster rate than on your own. Coaching will develop your ability to overcome fear and self doubt, focussing on setting meaningful goals to create a life on your terms. We work through a program aligned with the guiding principles of yoga for a harmonious outcome.
Verity is not one to promote something she doesn’t fully believe in. So here it is after years of staying away knowing she gets excited over something new! A friend gave her a whiff of Balance from then she was hooked! Seriously who doesn’t love balance in their lives.
From this date, it was true love. Verity now uses essential oils aromatically and topically in her yoga classes. She finds that essential oils enhance the emotional support and therapy that yoga provides, besides the more obvious physical benefits.
Essential oils create a connection for beginners and people who may have been doing yoga for a long time, giving their practise a new purpose. When you breathe them in, you will just get it!
You will see and get to experience the oils throughout the retreat, you will see how obsessed we are now.

With practice, you will find that the number of stages of consciousness increases and they arise more easily. That will grow into increasing stages of inner awareness.
