At a Vidya Wellness Retreat we teach you to trust yourself and how to become aware of your body and what fuels you. We give you the tools to eat deliciously and nutritiously, to cope with life and death, to live to the fullest by releasing the grips of depression and lovingly embrace your body. We remind you to stand in amazement and gratitude for all that you have.

Verity has transitioned from running her own Interior Design business for the past 9 years to becoming a full time yoga teacher, wellness warrior and life enricher.

“It’s always been my belief that you have to love what you do, since you invest so many precious hours of your life doing it. I loved my work in the design industry, and yet somewhere along the line I began to disconnect from my clients needs and priorities. There was a time when I used to focus all of my energy on staying up to date with the latest colour pallets, fabric designs and most prominent trends in home decor. However, somewhere in the past 3 years, I began to notice that I was doing less design research and was instead delving deeper into the world of self love, holistic nutrition, and soulful exercise. It seemed to suddenly wash over me that, that which brought me the most fulfilment was not coming from the industry I spent so much of my time in, but was in fact, the passions I yearned to immerse myself in when I was “working.”

The transition wasn’t easy, however, I began to honour what was true for me. I no longer hedged from my highest calling.

It all became crystal clear. Why else had I been through so much in my life already? All the trauma I had endured through for my young years, was in fact a series of lessons I needed to learn. Those lessons have since equipped me with the tools I now use to share with and support my fellow beings. It became a deafening roar from within me that I could no longer silence.

Today, I lead from my heart and know without a shred of doubt that there is always a light to follow and everyone has a truth yearning to pour out of them and be lived. I will always love and appreciate the world of design – however, what I know to be true for me, is that I am here to help others find their bliss.  I am empowered to balance both beauty and grief and through it all create moments of serenity. Since embracing my calling, I live each day with an unwavering sense of pride, purpose and passion. A gift I now desire to impart upon every soul I meet.”

Verity begun her journey by wanting to understand her body and what worked best for her. She set out with a mission to improve her yoga practice whilst maintaining strength. This blossomed into an unwavering lifestyle which she now wants to share with others.

Vidya is the Sanskrit word for “knowledge,” “clarity” or “higher learning.” The term is used to describe both intellectual knowledge obtained through study (apara vidya) and spiritual or higher knowledge (para vidya) that leads to enlightenment. 6 foundational principals of health



Circadian Rhythm, we just cannot cheat nature! Optimal health comes from understanding the importance of going to bed on time. Our bodies are still sun driven like our ancestors however now we face todays world with phone and TV’s artificial light. Now imagine yourself falling asleep with ease, soundly snoozing through the entire night only to wake calm and well rested.



Every day we wake and the first thing to turn on is our thoughts. If we follow the law of cause and effect …Good thoughts = good words + good deeds. Start your day filled with positivity and success and watch it follow you through your days



Breath is one of the many amazing things our bodies do naturally. Through our yoga and pranayama practice we can use our breath to influence our state of mind. With every inhale we fuel and nourish our bodies and every exhale has the ability to activate our parasympathetic nervous system.



Our bodies are made up of 80% water and as such it only makes sense to keep ourselves topped up. Water assists in stimulating digestion, eliminating toxins and hydrating the body! Water as soon as we wake and thorough our whole day is paramount to optimal health.



With our focus on quality and quantity, filled with love and honouring our bodies. What we put in our bodies is a reflection of the love and honour we have in optimising our marvellous machines and mental capacities. Get yourself on track by knowing what works for you.



The way in which we move should be determined first by a deep sense of self awareness. Rather than looking for answers externally you will learn to feel and listen from within to you body intuitively.



Chitta vritti nirodha is Patanjali’s definition of yoga. It means that yoga is the removing of the fluctuations of the mind.

The word yoga, from Sanskirt means to join, unity, union. Some say it’s the integration of human personality: Discipline & Concentration.

Vidya yoga retreats aims to assist with the beginning of your yoga journey. With the belief that everybody needs yoga in their life it is our mission to make this accessible to you. Creating a comfortable relaxed environment for you to connect with your body, breath and mind.

Verity will take you on a journey of self discovery as you reset, align and inspire yourself. Whether you are new to Yoga or experienced, Verity will ensure your time on the mat instils purpose to your practice and nourishment to your soul.

Yoga will be morning sweat session with a Yang style practice and we will conclude the day with sweet juicy Yin. All classes are around 90 minutes.

The classes have been created to complement your growth on the retreat along the way. Styles included;
Yang – In yang, think powerful, active, we emphasise strength, alignment and endurance. Including Vinyasa, Vinyasa Krama, Hatha and Ashtanga.
Yin – Letting your body completely surrender in strong but relaxed postures held for around 3-5 minutes. A must for everyone.
Myofascial release – Is a manipulative treatment using a tennis ball size ball that releases tension in the fascia due to trauma, posture of inflammation. Assisting in pain relief and letting go especially in the common problem areas from surfing and stress, the shoulders and hips.

We provide yoga matts, blocks, bolsters and straps however a yoga matt can be your own magic carpet so feel free to bring your own too.

With practice, you will find that the number of stages of consciousness increases and they arise more easily. That will grow into increasing stages of inner awareness. Eventually you can meditate at will – as your ability to meditate grows, so too will your intuition. The head is a diving machine, while the heart offers the experience of wholeness. When we learn to create wholeness in our lives and to use thinking as a tool to cultivate true success, inner-balance and love for ourselves. As we cultivate inner love for self through meditation, we naturally share that abundance with others in our life. Because now you’ve given yourself permission to take time each day to be meditative, you will find that you’ve got more energy than ever and that you are feeling better and better in yourself, experience less stress in life in general.

If you want to live a more fulfilled life, first you will want to know your potential, who you really are. Meditation is the route to that knowing. Together throughout our time we will discover different techniques for you to find your centre.

To us food is life. You are what you eat, so make it amazing!

Eating begins from the moment you lay eyes on your meal. Presentation to excite. Food to nourish. We are dedicated to providing you with a menu to keep you satisfied all day long.

Using whole organic foods which are eaten with purpose and according to your Primal pattern Diet Type your body is fuelled to reach its full potential.

All our meals are made firstly with love and from locally grown and sourced foods. We remain conscious of eating within our climate and region.

With focus on maximising your nutrient intake from natural sources we’ve developed a menu filled with powerful plant based meals. We’ve included animal foods such as eggs, fish and poultry. Whole foods contain more vitamins and minerals, more fibre and beneficial fats. The combinations of nutrients in whole plant foods act synergistically to protect us from disease.

Simplicity. Wellness comes from within, a healthy gut and good digestion are paramount to success. Being kind to our bellies keeping it simple to allow the enzymes to do their job in a relaxed environment is key.

It will leave you feeling satisfied and energised.

You will get to know YOUR body and what YOUR fuel is. We teach how to eat ‘healthy’ with the focus predominantly on awareness of your own body, providing the tools and knowledge to make the right choices.

With group sessions and a one on one personalised program from Verity you will knuckle down on food for fuel to suit your lifestyle.

True wellness is a balance of physical and spiritual health. We’ve created new experiences to fulfil you with both on the Vidya retreats.

Taking yourself back to the wonder of being a child. Opening your mind and creating childlike wonder to live in the present moment, laugh, have new experiences, get amongst nature, swim in the ocean, feel the sand on your feet.

We offer a deeper connection that gives credit to the environment we live in, bring perspective to our ourselves, clarity. In a neutral space you have the freedom to create your days with as little or as much adventure as you please, our focus being on self care.

Island life provides no distractions giving you the optimal chance to connect with your inner guide and free to really get clear and listen to your true desires.

Throughout the week we have wellness talks and coaching to provide you with new instilled knowledge, and tools to implement what you learn when you return home from your healthy retreat.

Surfing is a world of its own. Gain confidence with the total experience of being completely out of control and remaining calm, living out of your comfort zone. Trust and patience, its an exciting whirlwind and the feeling cannot be beaten! Exploring destinations and waves, being amongst the surf culture – inspiration for the ocean-minded. Summed up – Present.

Surfing creates community, travellers from all over the world come and together and share stories and laughs in the ocean.

Our instructor Alfred takes you on an entertaining journey of self discovery giving you tips to begin or better your surf. One thing we all share is our quest for the ideal wave. Alfred being an experienced instructor for 9 years and having hosted surfing tours all over Indonesia brings Nembrala’s best to you by maximizing your surfing time and scoring as many waves as possible. Variety, consistency, good swell periods and a knowledgeable surf guide, is what we offer.

Experience entertaining coaching and ocean awareness sessions. Alfred shares his knowledge and expertise of wave riding, how to manoeuvre your board, understanding swells and reef and how to take your surfing to the next level.

Energy balancing exercises for your body to get the best result is what we are chasing.

When we do something in the moment to fulfil an expectation for another moment, like exercising our bodies to try and look like a magazine model, rather than for the pure enjoyment, we miss contentment. – Rachel Wainwright

Exercise’s key psychological benefit is, it improves self esteem and when you exercise your body produces chemicals called endorphins. Endorphins trigger a positive feeling in the body and can be accompanied by a positive and energizing outlook on life. Bonus.

Verity is passionate about inspiring people towards their goals in health and wellbeing, all while having fun!

Verity is not one to promote something she doesn’t fully believe in. So here it is after years of staying away knowing she gets excited over something new! A friend gave her a whiff of Balance from then she was hooked! Seriously who doesn’t love balance in their lives.

From this date, it was true love. Verity now uses essential oils aromatically and topically in her yoga classes. She finds that essential oils enhance the emotional support and therapy that yoga provides, besides the more obvious physical benefits.

Essential oils create a connection for beginners and people who may have been doing yoga for a long time, giving their practise a new purpose. When you breathe them in, you will just get it!

Verity is a Health Coach and Life Coach with special focus on healing with happiness and nutrition accompanied with exercise. A nourishing lifestyle – including the food we eat for health and energy, and our self care routine. Our thoughts, our mindset (being our first guiding principal) ensures that this is will be the foundation to build a life we love on.

You will practice intention, awareness, compassion and acceptance on the yoga mat and in our yogic way of living. Here together we integrate these into our lives at Vidya Yoga Retreat we will help you feel better in your physical body, stronger in your emotional body and inspired by your own potential. We do all things with integrity, honestly and authenticity and always from love.

By creating strong connections and being receptive to you, Verity guides you through your journey to what really makes you feel happy. By asking powerful questions that serve as catalyst to stimulate your thinking, uncover beliefs and free the aha moments.
